Oh my dear lord.
The Used were INCREDIBLE live. It was everything I wanted and more. Not only is their new album amazing (possibly better than all of it's predecessors) but they are a great live band. They had a good mix of the old and the new, playing roughly four songs from each album so far. (The Used In Love And Death, Lies For The Liars, Artwork, Vulnerable) I went with the lovely William and Holly, and happened upon an awesome individual called Kelly Tyler in the line to get in. She was there by herself, so we all decided to stick together. We made an extra friend. They were giving out free pots of red face paint with the band logo on, so that you could replicate the cover of Vulnerable by putting streaks of 'blood' on your face. I managed to get a kick ass shirt.
It's not just the quality of The Used live that made them so fantastic, it was the fact that Bert McCracken (lead singer) really interacted with the crowd. Telling jokes, starting chants, that sort of stuff. He has easy stage presence and you can't help but laugh at his craziness.
First support act Marmozets, were awful. I'm not sure if it was their performance or their music itself that was risky, but either way they just sounded like a loud thrash of unpleasant sound. Completely unimpressive. However, Don Broco the second act were awesome. I really do suggest you check them out, because they kick ass. The lead singer really managed to get the crowd going, and warmed us up perfectly for The Used's entrance.
All in all, I had an amazing time! Can't wait until they tour again in the fall.
